Help needed in Westport: WPD needs a K-9

K-9 Koda has an incredible resume with the Westport PD, he was partnered with Officer Loomer. Koda was certified in narcotics detection, tracking, criminal apprehension and handler protection. He responded to over 600 canine related calls for Westport and surrounding agencies as well as federal, state, and municipal task for teams through out southern Connecticut. Koda has been a proven factor in helping the Westport Police Department for over 7 years as a full time K-9.

The Westport Police Department is looking for help this holiday season. K-9 Koda who has been apart of the department for 7 years, has developed some health issues and is forced into an an early retirement. The Westport PD has to get another K-9 and with that there are two projects involved. The first project is to purchase and train a new K-9 and the second is to have funds on hand for food, emergency veterinary, supplies and specialized handler training cost for the first year. A Go Fund Me page has been started to help support the Westport Police Department reach their goals to purchase a new k-9. They are also accepting check donations made to “The Westport Police K9 Unit” either mailed to or can be dropped off at the police station at 50 Jesup Road in Westport.
