Best-selling children’s author Lauren Tarshis will visit The Westport Library on Sunday, March 15, as part of a special event celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Westport Book Shop.
The program, titled “An Afternoon with Lauren Tarshis,” begins at 3 p.m. in the library’s Trefz Forum and includes an author presentation and book signing. Tarshis is the author of the widely popular I Survived series, which uses historical fiction to introduce young readers to major world events through the experiences of resilient child protagonists.
During the event, Tarshis will discuss her latest I Survived titles, including I Survived the Dust Bowl, 1935, and offer insight into her research and writing process. She will also highlight upcoming releases, including I Survived the California Wildfires, 2018, which will debut as a graphic novel in February 2026.
The ticketed event serves as a fundraiser for the Westport Book Shop, a nonprofit used bookstore that provides job training and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. Children’s tickets are $10 and include one I Survivedbook. Adult chaperone tickets and non-book tickets are $5. Children under age 5 may attend for free but must be registered in advance.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m., and the program begins promptly at 3 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
