“Frida Kahlo and Me”
For many years Penny had wanted to visit Frida’s home and museum. Last July that dream came
true. She recorded her visit in photographs and wanted to share the poignancy of the
experience with others not able to visit in person. So when Penny returned to LA, she put
together the presentation of her encounter with Frida’s world, followed by a side-by-side
comparison of works by Frida and herself.

About Penny Slinger
Penny Slinger (b. 1947, London, UK) is a Los Angeles-based artist who has been exploring the
connection between eroticism, mysticism, feminism, and art for over fifty years. Slinger mined
surrealism in the 1960s and 1970s to plumb the depths of the feminine psyche and
subconscious. She continues to work in many mediums including collage, photography, drawing,
sculpture, and video.
Attendees can experience the Museum’s current exhibition with complimentary admission.
