Westport Country Playhouse is now accepting registration for its Playhouse Playmakers spring program, a seven-week children’s education initiative for middle school students. The program runs Saturdays from April 11 through May 30, 1 to 4 p.m., and culminates with a staged reading of an original play created by participants.
Designed for grades 6-8, Playhouse Playmakers teaches students the fundamentals of playwriting, storytelling, production, and acting. Under the guidance of professional actors, participants will hear their own work read aloud, gaining insight into how their words translate to the stage.
“Playhouse Playmakers nurtures imagination, confidence, and teamwork—while giving young artists the unforgettable experience of sharing their original voices in a professional theatrical setting,” said Evette Marie White, the program’s director and a veteran actor, playwright, and educator.
The program fee is $575 and includes all sessions, technical rehearsal, materials, and four complimentary tickets to the final performance on May 30 at 3 p.m. Scholarships covering the full cost and transportation reimbursement are available. Enrollment is capped at 15 students.
