Westport Country Playhouse will host “2Motherpluckers, a Musical,” a comedic and heartfelt exploration of motherhood, on Tuesday, March 10, at 7 p.m.
Created and performed by Fairfield County-based moms Julie Foldesi and Stacie Morgain Lewis, the two-woman show combines original songs, comedy, and storytelling to navigate the ups, downs, and unexpected moments of parenting. The production is directed by Keira Naughton.
Mark Shanahan, artistic director of Westport Country Playhouse, said the musical, which previously ran in the Playhouse’s Barnstormers series, is “laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching,” capturing both the challenges and joys of motherhood while celebrating the friendships that sustain parents.
Foldesi and Lewis both have extensive theater backgrounds. Foldesi’s credits include Broadway productions such as “Sunday in the Park with George” and “Disney’s Newsies,” national tours of “Little Women” and “101 Dalmatians,” and numerous regional theater and television appearances. Lewis has performed on Broadway in “Wicked” and “Sunday in the Park with George,” national tours of “Titanic” and “South Pacific,” and has co-created the children’s music album “Harmonize” and the arts enrichment program Harmonize Kidz.
Broadway star Kelli O’Hara praised the show, saying it is “like the Indigo Girls meets Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.”
Tickets are $40. The 90-minute show has no intermission.
