Local author Lori Miller Kase will lead a two-part fiction-writing workshop for teens at The Westport Library. The interactive program is designed for both experienced and aspiring writers to help generate ideas or develop existing short stories and novels.
The sessions are scheduled for Monday, July 20, and Wednesday, July 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The free event will take place in Room 210 at the library, located at 20 Jesup Road in Westport.
During the first session, participants will write using prompts designed to teach plot, characters, setting, and point of view. The second session will follow a workshop format where students share their scenes and receive peer and instructor feedback.
Kase is an instructor at the Westport Writers’ Workshop and has taught creative writing to students from elementary through high school. Her debut young adult novel, The Accident, was published by Woodhall Press in October 2025 and was named a finalist for the Tassy Walden Awards.
Her broader writing portfolio includes work featured in publications such as The New York Times and The Atlantic, and she has received The Letter Review Prize for Short Fiction. Signed copies of her novel will be available for purchase following the conclusion of the workshop.
