The Westport Library is getting a head start on next year’s VersoFest, the town’s beloved annual celebration of music, media, and creativity, with a kickoff concert featuring rising New York City rock band The Thing on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 8 p.m.
Tickets go on presale Tuesday, November 4, with general on-sale Friday, November 7. Tickets are $35 and available through the Library’s website.
The concert marks the official lead-up to VersoFest 2026, which returns March 26–29, 2026, for its fifth year of music, media, and creative inspiration. Each year, VersoFest brings together musicians, producers, photographers, authors, and fans for a weekend of concerts, conversations, and workshops. Past guests have included everyone from Chuck D and The Wallflowers to The Roots’ Black Thought and SNL’s Christine Ohlman.
This year’s kickoff act, The Thing, bridges Connecticut roots and New York City energy. The band’s sound nods to the gritty spirit of The Kinks and The White Stripes, with an ethos that celebrates creativity through simplicity. Since forming in 2022, the group has played more than 300 shows worldwide and released three LPs, including their latest self-titled album, The Thing, in August 2025.
“We threw all of our influences throughout—all the decades of rock and roll and adjacent genres—and ended up with something of our own,” said guitarist Jack Bradley. “Our contribution to the genre. Our style. Our… thing.”
