Westport Book Shop welcomes artist Tammy Winser for new July exhibition

The Westport Book Shop is highlighting local artist Tammy Winser as its featured guest exhibitor for the month of July. The exhibition is currently open at the store’s dedicated gallery space, the Drew Friedman Art Place. Winser is presenting a collection of mixed media works titled “So they say.”

The featured pieces combine acrylic paint and collage elements on various base materials. The collection explores Winser’s interest in animals by depicting them with human traits and expressions to interpret the complexities of daily life. The artist’s broader portfolio spans multiple creative fields, including photography, public installations, and miniature scenes created through assemblage.

Winser graduated from Parsons and initially built a career in fashion as a print designer for Marc Jacobs. She subsequently worked as a children’s photographer and created public artworks across the United States, Berlin, and Australia. Locally, she works on private commissions, presents in nearby galleries, and helped establish the Artists Collective of Westport.

The independent nonprofit bookstore will host a public reception for Winser on Thursday, July 16, 2026. The evening event is scheduled to run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Because capacity inside the shop is limited, organizers are asking attendees to RSVP in advance by telephone or email.

The artwork will remain on display at 23 Jesup Road through July 31, 2026, and all pieces in the exhibit are available for purchase. The bookstore’s rotating monthly exhibits are curated by Miggs Burroughs, a trustee of the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center and a founding member of the Artists Collective of Westport.
