Former Westport resident Nile Rodgers featured on new Duran Duran remix release

Nile Rogers and Duran Duran Free to love single

Global music icons Duran Duran have released two brand new remix tracks of “Free to Love,” their recent collaborative single with legendary guitarist and producer Nile Rodgers.

The drop continues a four-decade history of musical partnerships between Duran Duran and Rodgers. Their collaborative work originally began more than 40 years ago with a remix of the number-one smash hit single “The Reflex.

This latest release brings together two different club-facing interpretations of the song. The new versions come from rising UK producer Harrison and electronic innovator BastienkHz.

Harrison delivers a remix featuring contemporary house energy and soaring synths. A brand new music video cut specifically for this remix has also been released.

“It’s a real honour to work on a Duran Duran record, especially one with Nile Rodgers involved,” Harrison said. He noted the track already carries a timeless energy.

The second track is the “Free to Love: Jersey Black Cat Remix” by BastienkHz. This version reshapes the song’s cyber-funk foundations with electronic textures and futuristic elements.

“It was so fun to work on ‘Free To Love’ listening to Simon Le Bon’s vocal,” BastienkHz said. He added that it is a voice he grew up listening to.

The original single has quickly become one of Duran Duran’s biggest recent releases since debuting in April. The track landed on 21 Spotify New Music Friday playlists and became BBC Radio 2’s Record of the Week.

The ongoing remix project first launched with tracks from Horse Meat Disco and DJ White Shadow. The new chapter arrives during Pride Month, featuring artists with strong connections to LGBTQ+ and dance culture.

The announcement comes as Duran Duran extends the lineup for their upcoming BST Hyde Park show on July 5. Nile Rodgers & CHIC will perform on the full lineup alongside Groove Armada, Scissor Sisters, and Harrison.
