Six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will perform “An Evening with Audra McDonald” at the Westport Country Playhouse on Tuesday, May 19, at 7 p.m.
McDonald, who has also won two Grammy Awards and an Emmy, is the most decorated individual in Tony history within the acting categories, having earned an unprecedented 11th nomination in 2025 for Gypsy. Her Broadway credits include award-winning performances in Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime, A Raisin in the Sun, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, and Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill.
On television, McDonald is recognized for recurring roles in The Gilded Age, Private Practice, The Good Wife, and The Good Fight. She also served as the official host of PBS’s Live from Lincoln Center, for which she won an Emmy. Her film work includes the live-action Beauty and the Beast and the Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect.
A Juilliard-trained soprano, McDonald will be accompanied on piano by her longtime collaborator and music director Andy Einhorn. Einhorn recently served as the music supervisor and music director for the revival of Gypsy starring McDonald.
Beyond her performing career, McDonald is a founding member of Black Theatre United and a board member of Covenant House International. In 2015, she received the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama and was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people.
Tickets for the 90-minute concert are priced at $150 and $200. The event is sponsored by Roz and Bud Siegel, with additional support from Brian and Meg Cotter.
