The Museum of Contemporary Art Connecticut (MoCA\CT) will debut its summer season, “Looking for History,” on June 25, 2026, featuring three interconnected solo exhibitions.
The exhibitions, which run through Nov. 15, invite the Westport community to reflect on historical narratives. For Ellen Harvey’s “The Disappointed Tourist” installation, the museum has specifically invited the local community to submit names of sites that no longer exist, bringing regional stories into a global dialogue.
Rick Shaefer’s “Colossi” anchors the season, using a monumental structure to symbolize human ambition and legacy. Shaefer, a Connecticut-based artist, has previously held solo exhibitions at the Fairfield University Art Museum and the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
The entrance gallery will feature “Connecticut Industry” by Michael Borders starting Aug. 13. Borders’ work draws on the history of the Hartford region, emphasizing the industrial and social contributions of Connecticut communities.
“MoCA\CT offers a contemplative space where we can safely engage with historical memory, the topics of our time, and one another,” said Executive Director Robin Jaffee Frank, PhD.
Located in Westport, MoCA\CT will host these exhibitions across its galleries, with Harvey’s presentation concluding Aug. 2 to make way for Borders’ installation later that month.
