The Westport Country Playhouse will celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with a performance of “Laura and Linda Benanti: Mothers Know Best” on May 9.

The show stars Tony Award winner Laura Benanti and her mother, acclaimed New Jersey-based voice teacher Linda Benanti. The pair will share recollections of their parenting styles and childhoods, including Linda’s experience serving as Laura’s vocal coach during her youth.

The younger Benanti recently debuted her solo comedy show, “Laura Benanti: Nobody Cares,” and is widely known for her portrayal of Melania Trump on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Linda Benanti, who spent years running a vocal studio in Kinnelon, New Jersey, is returning to the stage for this national tour after retiring from a career that included roles in “The Fantasticks” and “The Music Man.”

“Mothers Know Best” is a 75-minute program without intermission. The Playhouse noted that this performance is the rescheduled date for a show originally slated for February.
