Westport Country Playhouse will host two performances of Clifford, the Big Red Dog: The Musical on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026. The production is part of the theater’s Family Festivities Series and will feature showtimes at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Produced by TheaterWorksUSA, the original musical comedy follows the story of Emily Elizabeth and her oversized pet dog, Clifford. After Clifford’s massive size prompts a family move from a city apartment to Birdwell Island, the story focuses on friendship and acceptance within a new community.
The stage production was created by a professional artistic team featuring music and lyrics by Sam Tsui and Casey Breves, along with a book written by Matt Hoverman. Laura Brandel serves as the director and choreographer for the show.
Additional creative design credits include scenic design by Charlie Corcoran, costume design by Jen Caprio, puppet design by Lake Simons, and lighting design by Audrey Wubbena. Puppet direction is handled by Ashley Winkfield, with props design by Clara Cable.
Tickets for the 60-minute performance are priced at $35. The show is specifically recommended for children in grades pre-K through second.
